Vantage Ag - Boron is present as Boric Acid, the most effective water-soluble form of Boron on the market. Other forms of Boron are less bio-available to the plants, such as Borax. Borax, or sodium tetraborate decahydrate, is used in some products but this form of Boron is very old technology and as a raw material not bio-available. Boron should be applied at low rates, as Boron is very toxic and over application can result in yield losses. One of the drawbacks of determining Boron needs is that current soil testing methods do not accurately estimate Boron availability.
Boron plays a key role in a diverse range of plant functions including cell wall formation and stability, maintenance of structural and functional integrity of biological membranes, movement of sugar or energy into growing parts of plants, and pollination and seed set. Canola and alfalfa are two crops grown in the Prairies with a higher sensitivity to boron deficiency. Wheat, barley, corn, potato, pea and most grasses have a relatively low sensitivity to boron deficiency.
This product is designed to be used foliarly when Boron maybe deficient. Consult label for specific application instructions. Rates on most crops are 250mL to 500mL per acre, depending on the deficiency level. This product will tank mix with other products but always conduct a jar test to ensure compatibility. The results pertain to physical compatibility and cannot predict changes in crop protection, product efficacy or crop tolerance. Test all crop protection products applied at high end of recommended rates.
